Estudio MMX has created the Tlaxcoapan CDC in Hidalgo, Mexico.
At the threshold between the small town of Tlaxcoapan and the rural Mezquital Valley, this project was created to house educational activities for locals, as well as for migrants who continually pass by.
The extensive and intensive knowledge of this region transcends the instructional spaces of conventional classrooms.
Tlaxcoapan CDC sought to provide spaces that can take on multiple forms, including a library, along with the open plan spaces, patios and gardens – a preamble to learn about the territory sitting next to the building.
This project has been longlisted in the civic project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
