Snow Kreilich Architects and Ten x Ten Landscape Architects have redesigned and transformed the Treetop Trail at the Minnesota Zoo in Minnesota, United States.
Snow Kreilich Architects and Ten x Ten Landscape Architects partnered with the Minnesota Zoo to transform their decommissioned monorail infrastructure into an elevated pedestrian trail and viewing platform.
Linking the developed southern half of campus with the undeveloped, forested northern half, this walkway immerses visitors into a wonderland of natural elements and animal exhibits with unparalleled vantage points.
Not just an elevated walkway, the 1.25-mile-long trail incorporates four distinct access points to enhance user experience and introduce visitors to the trail.
It reinforces the zoo's overall mission, prioritises accessibility and provides opportunities for respite, wayfinding, interpretation and enhanced engagement.
This project has been longlisted in the landscape and urban design category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
