Bohinc Studio has designed Utopia, an installation commissioned by Miami Design District 2023.

Utopia is an immersive installation of functional sculptures that questions how humans could better engage with the natural world.

"It is a vision of sustainable urban living where people and nature coexist harmoniously," said Bohinc Studio.

Spanning four installations, it features irregular, bulbous forms reminiscent of growing cellular organisms and lifeforms.

The colourful and tactile sculptures include outdoor seaters, tables, imposing light sculptures and 900 birdhouses.

With a focus on environmental issues, Bohinc's pieces are made from cork – a natural, waterproof and environmentally friendly material.

The pieces are constructed with a 5D robotic milling machine and completed by hand.

This project has been longlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
