Patterns and many collaborators have designed and developed the Victory Wellness Center in Los Angeles, United States.
This project consisted of the conversion of an existing bowstring truss structure into a wellness facility.
"As part of the adaptive reuse conversion, our proposal added an entire new basement as well as a partial mezzanine level," said Patterns.
"Therefore maintaining, improving and expanding the existing wooden structure while increasing its surface area from 17,000 square feet to 42,000 square feet of enclosed space and more than 12,000 square feet of open landscaped space."
Aiming to create a medical campus, the proposal generates a public presence along the busy Victory Boulevard, providing a much-needed open green space and a direct connection to the parking area located at the back.
This project transforms a ubiquitous Southern California structure that invigorates the community around it sustainably and inventively into a new pedestrian-scale outdoor space.
This project has been longlisted in the health and wellbeing project category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
