Maestro Technologies has developed AI Timber, AI-designed timber panels.

Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is increasingly popular as a sustainable alternative to concrete, but when trees are harvested for construction, a lot of wood is wasted.

AI Timber scans the natural contours of the timber panels and uses artificial intelligence to fit them together like pieces of a puzzle, dramatically reducing wood waste while preserving the natural beauty of the wood used.

"Made by nature, with a little help from AI," said Maestro Technologies.

This project has been shortlisted in the material innovation category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
