Shortlisted for Dezeen Awards 2024 Bentley Lighthouse Award, Christien Meindertsma is a designer and researcher based in Asperen, the Netherlands.
Meindertsma is interested in the transformation and route that a product travels through, from plant, animal or raw material into a product and its afterlife.
A study of this route can be the project itself. At other times she designs a technique that is a new part of the process, and on other occasions she designs the product itself. Often, her projects are presented through photography and film.
Recent projects of hers include a robot that can build three-dimensional woven volumes out of wool and an installation at Milan Design Week showcasing her linoleum tiles that can be remolded "like playdough."
Christien Meindertsma is shortlisted in the Bentley Lighthouse Award category of Dezeen Awards 2024
