Jo Nagasaka / Schemata Architects has designed the interiors of Komaeyu in Tokyo, Japan.
This project is the interior design of a public bathhouse in Tokyo.
"We proposed a program that would create a new daily communication hub for this public bathhouse in the suburbs of Tokyo," said Jo Nagasaka / Schemata Architects.
"We aimed to make the bathhouse a place that can be used by multiple generations, that is accessible to those who have been coming here for a long time, and that attracts new visitors to make the bathhouse an everyday place."
In addition to the existing functions, the architects designed a sauna with a bar so that people can feel refreshed before going to bed, revitalise in the sauna, have a beer and talk with other people.
This project has been shortlisted in the health and well-being interior category of Dezeen Awards 2024.
