Winner: Lighting design of the year. Philippe Malouin and Flos have collaborated on Bilboquet, a two-cylinder table lamp.
Bilboquet is a table lamp by Canadian designer Philippe Malouin, marking his first collaboration with Flos.
The lamp consists of two coloured cylinders connected by a magnetic sphere that acts as a joint and allows the upper cylinder to rotate, directing the flow of light.
All the elements that compose it are inspired by the bilboquet, a game born in France in the 16th century, to which the lamp owes its name.
Judges comments: “There is something very pleasing about this design. Its versatility as a light is achieved with a minimal number of component parts. It’s at once familiar yet entirely contemporary and it’s extremely satisfying to use.”
