Established in 2019 by Jonny Buckland and Ananya Singhal after over a decade of collaboration, the studio's work is underpinned by the ambition to create sustainable solutions for society, achieved by a cross-cultural sharing of ideas, methodologies and technologies.
Whether in Somerset or Rajasthan, Studio Saar's approach interprets vernacular traditions through a contemporary lens to deliver innovative, relevant and beautiful design solutions across a range of typologies.
Recent projects of theirs include a cultural centre wrapped with perforated marble screens and a revamp of a run-down park on Swaroop Sagar Lake in Udaipur, India.
Judges comments: "Founded in 2019, this ambitious young practice puts social and environmental sustainability at its core," said the judges.
"Led by Jonny Buckland and Ananya Singhal between Frome and Udaipur, the studio has delivered an impressive and diverse array of projects in the UK and India that belies its age."
