Winner: Housing project of the year. Shay Cleary Architects has developed The Residences, Sandford Lodge in Dublin, Ireland.
The Residences at Sandford Lodge, comprise the first completed low-rise, high-density residential development in Ireland.
Building upon Shay Cleary's long-term research projects into high-quality low-rise, high-density residential design, the scheme provides high-amenity residential of generous size.
With ample private open terraces and gardens and superb access to sunlight and daylight, The Residences offer both double and triple-aspect units.
The highly articulated building form that arises directly from this arrangement creates powerful architecture and a strong, contemporary aesthetic.
Judges comments: "This project is elegantly designed, achieving high sustainability standards while fitting seamlessly into its context as a modern interpretation of traditional brick houses. The courtyard transforms the typical use of space by prioritizing children’s play. This thoughtful approach enhances both community interaction and safety, making it a commendable example of contemporary residential design."
