Spanning 10 years and two clients, this church conversion in Islington, London uses materials as sparingly as possible to match the owner’s pared-back lifestyle.
Bavaria Road Studio is a slow-burn refurbishment of a former Methodist Church in Islington that took 10 years to complete. This first phase of work involved a complete overhaul of a double-height live/work studio, with a new timber mezzanine level inserted into the existing building fabric, balancing architecture and engineering, with materials chosen for maximum efficiency.
