The AA Spring Semester Programme at the Architectural Association School of Architecture encourages students to explore their own design aesthetic whilst discovering opportunities for sustainable development in Madrid.

Madrid Innovation Lab is a collaboration platform between Community of Madrid, MWCC and the Metrópoli Foundation. This platform establishes the channels of public-private co-operation to promote actions that improve competitiveness and foster projects towards sustainable urban development.

Madrid Innovation Lab aims to identify urban and architectural projects that become key opportunities to support and promote Madrid Metrópolis 2040.

This semester students will have the opportunity to become immersed in this challenge and to gain knowledge on the urban structure of the city, exploring recent and ongoing developments that are shaping Madrid's profile. This baseline will be used to discover key projects beneficial for the future of the capital in specific districts.

Architectural interventions can vary in scale and type; the project narratives shall aim to create an active dialogue with the character of the place while fostering a sustainable response that supports the competitive and productive profile of the place.

Students are invited to explore their own aesthetic style in the programme. There is an ongoing dialogue between two- and three-dimensional explorations revealing unpredictable qualities to inspire individual design narratives.
