BA (Hons) Architecture at Kingston University

The BA (Hons) Architecture degree at Kingston University showcases a broad syllabus which emphasises design and architecture as a material practice.

School: Kingston School of Art, Kingston University
Course: BA (Hons) Architecture
Location: London, UK
Course dates: September 2025 to May 2028 (full-time)
Application deadline: 29 January 2025

The course is part of the Department of Architecture and Landscape at Kingston School of Art (KSA). We are located on the Knights Park campus and we share our building with a range of other creative disciplines, as well as our extensive workshop facilities including woodwork, metalwork, printmaking, plaster and bronze casting. This is a place in which to converse, to debate, to work and to learn from each other.

The course is centred upon design, on the creative processes of observation and making and an ethos of ‘thinking through making'. Architecture is emphasised as a material practice and particular attention is given to how buildings are made, and how tectonic components are fundamental to architectural character.

Studio projects form at least 50% of the course, giving you the skills and knowledge to tackle design issues in the built environment. Workshops and seminars teach you drawing and making skills. You will also study theoretical, cultural, historical, social, sustainable, material and technical issues.

You'll be taught by a range of staff, many of whom run their own architecture practices or work in practice. This ensures that the practice-led research which is disseminated in the studio, or actually takes place there, is up-to-date and relevant to industry and practice.
