The BASEhabitat master at the University of Arts Linz is aimed at architecture students with a bachelor's degree who want to specialise in sustainable architecture within the master's programme.

This master's degree in architecture deals with responsible architecture and spatial development in a global context and places particular emphasis on sustainable building materials.

Central elements of the programme are the design and implementation of real architectural projects, focusing on social contexts.

Regenerative building materials such as earth, fibres and bamboo are primarily used. These projects are developed in cooperation with partner NGOs and local communities.

Working on the construction site is an essential part of the programme for the students.

Students acquire competencies in architecture in different international contexts and gain an understanding of socio-spatial correlations, trans-disciplinarity and participation.

They explore the potential of sustainable building materials in lectures, workshops, design and practice.

During a hands-on term on a construction site, students learn to realise designs together with local partners.

In this way, architecture is taught as a design process in its full complexity, from research and investigation to implementation.

A good command of German is required to apply for the programme.
