School: Confluence Institute for Innovation and Creative Strategies in Architecture
Course: Confluence Cycle 1
Location: Paris, France
Course dates: three years from fall 2024 or spring 2025
Application deadline: 30 June 2024
Confluence develops a broad understanding of architecture as a discipline, moving beyond the mere design of buildings. The school is committed to cultivating a diverse range of approaches that encompass the understanding of cities, contemporary contexts, cultures and buildings.
Confluence Cycle 1 is a three-year programme structured as a dynamic curriculum. It provides students with essential tools to articulate, experiment and defend unique architectural perspectives through critical and independent thinking. Each semester, the school facilitates a collective exploration of a contemporary issue, inviting a diverse array of guest professors – including architects, critics, artists, philosophers, filmmakers, scientists and engineers – to interact with students.
Throughout the programme, students shape their own educational journey by selecting thematic vertical studios, participating in intensive workshops and attending tailored seminars. These choices empower students to craft a personalised learning path, fostering autonomy and deepening engagement within and beyond the realm of architecture.
By the end of the programme, students will have engaged with over 50 experts and professionals from various backgrounds and viewpoints, expanding their vision and cultivating a unique approach to the discipline.
Confluence Cycle 1 is a three-year program validated at RIBA Part 1 level by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
