In this MA program at Bard Graduate Center, we study design history, material culture and decorative arts — the cultural history of the material world.

Our graduates hold major curatorial positions at the institutes including Met, Brooklyn Museum, Cooper Hewitt, LACMA, Art Institute of Chicago and Denver Museum of Art, among others.

Our faculty train the next generation of curators, museum professionals and educators using an interdisciplinary and object-based approach.

The curriculum has an emphasis on writing, research and technical analysis, digital literacy, professional experience and travel.

The scope of our study is global and ranges from antiquity to the present. Generous scholarship support and housing are available.
