The Master in Architecture leads to a qualification that meets the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Part 2 exemption, listed in the Commonwealth Association of Architects' approved courses.
This dynamic, studio-based course addresses in different ways the critical and creative role of the contemporary architect in relation to physical and social contexts.
The course also examines the specificity of the architectural discipline in relation to other forms of practice, such as the revitalisation and the sustainability of the urban environment, live projects and community participation, the application of forms of digital fabrication and new technologies, and the exploration of new media to reinvent the languages of architecture in multidisciplinary practices.
Beyond the conventional understanding of architecture based on building, interior and landscape studies, the course explores the concept of ‘architecture as multiplicity’.
This postgraduate programme unfolds intersections with other disciplines and with its mediated, digitised, coded, augmented and hybridised existences, and the radical potential of new forms of thinking and making.
Dynamic engagements empower students and academics in the Leeds School of Architecture to develop work that tackles the most pressing and polemical issues within our society nationally and internationally.
The Leeds School of Architecture school is also closely linked to professional societies, such as Leeds Society of Architects, West Yorkshire Society of Architects and RIBA Yorkshire region.
