Master of Interior Design at University of Florida
The Master of Interior Design course at University of Florida equips students with professional interior design and advanced research skills.
School: University of Florida (UF)
Course: Master of Interior Design (MID)
Location: Gainesville, USA
Course dates: August 2024 to May 2026
Application deadline: 1 February 2024
UF's interior design program is recognized as a leading program in the US with a strong international draw.
The Master of Interior Design educates students to become professionals in practice, to engage in research and to develop a specialization in the design of the built environment.
At the core of the MID curriculum are courses in interior design research methods and individualized master's thesis research.
By the end of their first year in the program – or second year for students with a bachelor's degree in a field other than design – each student selects a two-member supervisory committee to guide their course choices and thesis.
The work culminates in the successful completion, public defence and publication of the student's master's thesis work.
MID students graduate with the competencies to practice interior design plus valuable research skills.
The program takes two years to complete for those with a previous interior design undergraduate degree and three years for students with a non-design undergraduate degree.
MID graduates have the opportunity to pursue entry-level teaching positions within interior design programs. They can also enter PhD programs for advanced research specialization(s) in interior design or related design disciplines.
