The Pre-Professional Programmes in Architecture at Texas A&M University explore a range of design principles and practices to give students a grounding for a career in architecture.

School: Texas A&M University
Course: Pre-professional Programmes in Architecture
Location: College Station, Texas, USA
Course dates: August 2025 to May 2026
Application deadline: 1 December 2024

The Bachelor of Science in Architecture programme at Texas A&M University educates students in design principles and practices within the context of the built environment. The programme offers a 21st-century education rooted in timeless principles while addressing current and emerging trends, ensuring students are well-prepared for the future of architecture. Our technology-driven curriculum and studio-based experiences fosters design thinking and problem-solving across scales, from product design to urban contexts.

The programme emphasises collaboration, critical thinking and prototyping as essential tools for expanding the fields of architecture and design and ensuring students are actively engaged in their learning. Motivated second-year students aspiring to become licensed architects can join the Integrated Path to Architecture Licensure (iPAL) programme, allowing them to pursue education, experience and examination simultaneously, reducing the time required for licensure. The programme requires third-year students to study away from the Texas A&M main campus, with options for internships or study abroad to gain global perspectives.

Graduates from the Bachelor of Science in Architecture programme often continue their professional education through an NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture programme. They pursue careers in architecture, robotics and design-related fields such as graphic, industrial, product and interior design.

The curriculum emphasises computational design, building technology, design integration, professional practice and global perspectives. Throughout the programme, students are engaged in design and research at local and global scales, focusing on contemporary issues such as climate change, sustainability, social and environmental justice and resilient communities.

The programme runs from August to May. Transfer students can enter in January or June in the BSArchitecture undergraduate programme but a typical starting point for the sequence is August.

Career prospects

The programme's graduates are well-prepared for careers in architecture and related fields, such as fabrication, sustainability, graphic design, industrial design, product design and interior design.
