Artists Hot List

Anish Kapoor finishes ahead of Ai Weiwei in our Artists Hot List

Only five artists made it onto our Artists Hot List and four of them tend to do work on an architectural scale or a design sensibility, which is why we cover them in the first place. Anish Kapoor (number one) built a giant skycraper-sized sculpture that has been turned into a slide; Ai Weiwei (number two) collaborated with Herzog & de Meuron on a pavilion; Olafur Eliasson (number three) installed a gigantic waterfall at Versailles.

Christo (number four) outdid them all, however, by building floating golden pathways to a pair of islands. Meanwhile Damien Hirst slips in at number five on behalf of the gallery designed for him by architects Caruso St John.

The building recently won the RIBA Stirling Prize for best building by a British architect, so expect Hirst to feature highly again on next year's Dezeen Hot List.
