Fondazione Prada

Fondazione Prada was established by the Italian fashion house Prada in 1993 as a cultural organisation dedicated to art, cinema and philosophy.

In May 2015, Prada's art foundation opened its OMA-designed venue located to the south of Milan. Rem Koolhaas' firm renovated several buildings at the former distillery to create the arts centre, cladding one structure in 24-carat gold leaf.

Fondazione Prada continued to stir conversation well into the Hot List year. Images of the art centre and its golden building – which also features a bar designed by legendary filmmaker Wes Anderson – were widely shared to our #milanogram2016 hashtag on Instagram as visitors flocked to the city for its annual design week.
