Gensler is the world's largest architectural firm, with projects on every continent, although its biggest news of the last year came from Asia and North America.

In China, the company completed its 632-metre-high Shanghai Tower, which is now the world's second-tallest building, beaten only by Dubai's 828-metre-high Burj Khalifa. Meanwhile over in the USA, it revealed a collaboration with Gwyneth Paltrow to open a branch of the private Arts Club on Hollywood's Sunset Strip.

But the firm also got some attention for some small-scale activities – it added a glass slide on the side of a California's tallest tower and opened a spa for pets at New York's JFK airport.
