Thomas Heatherwick gives a special address at the online capstone event of the 2020 Eugene McDermott Award in the Arts at MIT.
The Eugene McDermott Award in the Arts at MIT is an annual prize organised by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that recognises innovative talents and offers the recipient a $100,000 prize and a campus residency. This year's recipient is designer Thomas Heatherwick.
This event honouring Heatherwick includes an address to MIT from the designer filmed in his London studio and the premiere of a behind-the-scenes documentary telling MIT students the story of his design career. There is also a Q&A between Dean Hashim Sarkis, curator of the 2021 Venice Biennale of Architecture and Heatherwick.
