Washington DC's National Building Museum hosts the Gun Violence Memorial Project, a virtual and physical tribute to the thousands of lives taken by gun violence in the United States each year.
The exhibition comprises four houses, each created out of 700 glass bricks, a reference to the number of people killed in the US by guns every week. Over time, the bricks will be filled with remembrance objects donated by immediate family members of loved ones taken by gun violence.
The project is a collaboration between MASS Design Group and Hank Willis Thomas, a conceptual artist and artistic director of Songha & Co. The exhibition was originally part of the Chicago Architecture Biennial in 2019.
