This virtual talk, hosted by The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Denver, looks at non-fungible tokens (NTFs) and questions whether digital objects are advancing conceptual art. NTFs are a blockchain technology that can be used to certify a digital asset to be unique.
During the event, Nora Burnett Abrams, director of MCA Denver, and Amy Whitaker, a blockchain researcher and assistant professor in visual arts administration at New York University’s Steinhardt School, explore the history of blockchain art. They also examine how it has the potential to readdress artistic production, ownership, collecting and audience engagement with art.
NFTs WTF? takes place online on 22 April 2021.
