Nordic Design Diplomacy in New York is an online event that takes place as part of NYCxDesign's Design Days and features a series of talks with Nordic and American designers and professionals.
The concept for Nordic Design Diplomacy in New York has been adapted from a format that was originally created by Helsinki Design Week. The event, which is hosted by the Nordic Consulates in New York, comprises conversations with Nordic and American designers discussing their lives and work.
This year’s speakers include Einar Hagem from studio LundHagem, Francine Houben from Dutch architecture firm Mecanoo and Debbie Millman, the host of the Design Matters podcast. In addition to the conversations, the audience will learn about the design and history of the consular residences as an embodiment of Nordic values through virtual tours of these unique spaces.
The virtual programs are presented in collaboration with Helsinki Design Week and NYCxDesign. The events are free of charge and open to the public.
Nordic Design Diplomacy in New York takes place online from 13 to 18 May 2021.
