The Rise Africa platform hosts its first annual festival, which aims to highlight urban innovation in African cities through field trips, training sessions and talks.

The festival brings together 2000 local and regional governments from more than 100 countries.

The event's programme is structured around a series of intersecting topics including climate change, indigenous knowledge systems, collaborative governance and social movements. These topics all relate to Rise Africa action festival's theme: Next Urban Champions.

Rise Africa action festival 2021 takes place online from 24 to 28 May.
