Helsinki Design Week 2021 is themed around Wisdom, offering exhibitions, city-wide discussion forums and meeting places for design professionals and enthusiasts to attend.

Its main exhibition makes the choices and decisions behind design visible through an open call programme for designers to exhibit and address matters they believe are wise.

The festival aims to interrogate the ideas behind taking time to reflect, learning and doing through failing, which the event organiser describes as "gaining wisdom".

"Designers are constantly advised to bring smart solutions, to produce clever design", said programme director Anni Korkman. "What if we agreed that solving the issues now calls for something wiser?"

Helsinki Design Week 2021 takes place at various locations across Helsinki, Finalnd from 9 to 19 September 2021.
