ICD Brookfield Place presents an exhibition called Floating World by Kuwaiti artist Monira Al Qadiri, which highlights how ingrained oil-derived chemicals are within our daily lives.
The exhibition presents two works by Al Qadiri – Benzene Float and Nawa – which explore the sustainability of fossil fuels.
Benzene Float presents a series of scientific drawings of petrochemicals and five large-scale inflatable sculptures, which depict the molecular structure of the substances.
Nawa is a sculptural series exploring the hidden processes of the oil industry. The sculptural forms include steel rope cables that are designed to resemble flowers in bloom.
Floating World by Monira Al Qadiri takes place from 16 November 2023 to 3 January 2024 at ICD Brookfield Place, 312 Al Mustaqbal, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
