Creative initiative Craft x Tech presents the Tohoku Project during London Design Festival 2024, showcasing six pieces of work at the V&A Museum.
The project is led by the Craft x Tech Tohoku Association and engineering design studio Tangent – which is founded by Hideki Yoshimoto – with Maria Cristina Didero as its curatorial director.
Exploring the dynamic between technology and traditional Japanese crafts, the initiative has incorporated creatives from six prefectures in the Tohoku region of Japan: Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Miyagi, Yamagata and Fukushima.
Participating artists include Sabine Marcelis, Azusa Murakami and Alexander Groves of Studio Swine, Ini Archibong, Yoichi Ochiai, Hideki Yoshimoto and Michael Young.
Craft x Tech Tohoku Project 2024 takes place from 14 September to 13 October 2024 at the V&A Museum, Cromwell Road, Prince Consort Gallery, London SW7 2RL, UK.
