Sleeping Lab Hotel

Atelier d'More has redesigned the Sleeping Lab Hotel in Beijing, China.

This project is located in a village near Universal Studios Beijing, transformed from a two-story brick-concrete structure into a hotel.

"The client hope[d] to transform the originally dilapidated small building into a place for accommodation, party activities and photography that meets the needs of young people," told Atelier d'More. "We needed to give the building a new look without changing its original structure."

In the absence of surrounding scenery, inward views are achieved through the shaping of a tense building facade and a multi-level courtyard layout.

By emphasising simplicity and the introversion of space, the indoor and outdoor environments are intertwined to create an extraordinary spatial experience for the hotel's guests.

This project has been shortlisted in the hospitality project category of Dezeen Awards China 2023.
