Bubble Stool
Studio Ololoo has designed Bubble Stool, a wooden stool with an inflatable cushion.
The Bubble Stool is made of ash wood and recyclable TPU airbags, produced in a small factory in Ningbo by Studio Ololoo. The project explores the possibilities of pressing airbags with tools of different forms and various use scenarios.
"The form of the stool is inspired by children's game of blowing bubbles, like a steel ring," said Studio Ololoo.
"The inflated TPU airbag is fixed in the seat and is squeezed by the irregular wooden ring to form an organic bubble-shaped seat cushion."
In addition, all of the screws of the stool are cleverly hidden in the internal structure and create a mystery of how the airbag was installed.
This project has been shortlisted in the furniture design category of Dezeen Awards China 2024.
