New Science and Technology Museum of Henan Province
Atelier L+ and Tongji Architectural Design (Group) have developed the new Science and Technology Museum of Henan Province in Zhengzhou, China.
The New Science and Technology Museum of Henan Province is the largest three-in-one science and technology museum in China, which has a science centre, a planetarium, a natural history museum, and a specialised science popularisation museum.
The innovation of the design mainly embodies three aspects: technological representation of temporal and spatial landscapes, thermodynamically driven ecological shaping and systematic construction of technology and science museums.
The extended architectural form of the three wings of the building mirrors the dynamic force of the confluence between the Yellow River and the Luo River, naturally shaping the spatial structure of the site.
The body of the building extends in three dimensions, creating parks or plazas in all directions that respond to various urban and natural landscape elements of the site. Establishing connections between the architecture and the city through natural parks and plazas forms an integrated landscape venue.
This project has been shortlisted in the cultural project category of Dezeen Awards China 2024.
