Sichuan Provincial Architectural Design and Research Institute has designed the Chengdu Park City Education Practice Base project, a mixed-use building located in Chengdu, China.

This project is located in the Xilai Park City Demonstration Area in Pujiang County, Chengdu; it has a superior ecological background and a gathering of revolutionary, ecological and historical resources.

"The goal [was] to create a park city rural expression demonstration," said Sichuan Provincial Architectural Design and Research Institute.

The architectural shape extracts the ancient banyan tree beside the river as the morphological prototype; by adhering to the principles of green and low-carbon development, it creates a model of BIPV application in special-shaped buildings.

"The client require[d] the project to focus on [the] high-quality expression of park city and rural areas, organically integrating the achievements of park city construction into various spaces of the base for vivid display, meeting the functional needs of carrying out park city education practices...and linking with the Chengdu Liberation Memorial Hall on the west side to build a demonstration of red led green development in park city and rural expression," added Sichuan Provincial Architectural Design and Research Institute.

This project has been shortlisted in the mixed-use project category of Dezeen Awards China 2024.
