House M001
Guò Bàn Ér has renovated and extended the House M001 in Beijing, China.
This project was the renovation and extension of an original typical 1990s rural bungalow house with dry-hung tiles, transforming it into a new home for two dogs and a family of four.
"The success of the project has inspired a new way of life for people who yearn for a natural life and are troubled by sky-high rent in Beijing today," told Guò Bàn Ér.
The design has given the vacant house a second life, uplifting the building from an abandoned place into a lively living space.
An additional 50 square metres were added to the main house, increasing the comfort of the living experience for the family – while the renovated living room serves as the most open social centre, connecting the gardens on the north and south sides.
This project has been shortlisted in the residential project category of Dezeen Awards China 2023.
