Cotton Park

AIM Architecture has redeveloped Cotton Park, which involves renovating four industrial oil tanks and creating mixed-use community spaces in Changzhou, China.

AIM Architecture completed the renovation of Cotton Park in Changzhou in 2023; the project involves the regeneration of four oil tanks for the successful retail brand Cotton Park.

Changzhou is an ancient city with a history of more than 3,000 years and has transformed into a captivating destination, embracing a more intimate city experience and prioritising quality over quantity.

AIM was tasked with revitalising the industrial heritage and creating mixed-use community spaces, including retail, F&B, exhibition spaces, and recreational areas.

Driven by sustainability considerations and respect for the industrial heritage, the design preserved the existing architecture as much as possible during the renovation.

"We chose to connect the four silos by carving a direct path through their centre, curating a captivating journey," said AIM. "Our goal was to breathe new life into the city and foster community engagement, a vision that aligns with our own aspiration to bring urban spaces to life."

This project has been shortlisted in the rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards China 2024.
