Editecture has designed a Christmas tree-style installation for Kadoorie Estates in Hong Kong.
The Christmas tree installation in St. George's lobby is made from preserved building elements of St. George's Court, a residential building owned by the Kadoorie Family in Kowloon.
The apartment complex was scheduled for reconstruction; some building elements were repurposed using 3D printing technology to create the Christmas tree.
"These materials include door handles, metal railings, stones, and glass, upcycled with 3D printing technology to showcase our commitment to sustainability," said Editecture.
After the holidays, the tree can be transformed into upcycled furniture pieces, extending its sustainable journey.
This project has been shortlisted in the craft and collectible design category of Dezeen Awards China 2024.
