Mini South Villa

Displacement Architecture Design has designed the Mini South Villa in Shanghai, China.

The project is located among the fields in Jinshan, where the original old house has always been inhabited by two elders over 80 years old.

Besides the traditional hall, only the bedrooms of the elders were left in the old house, and there was no more space suitable for living.

As the neighbouring houses on both sides were all three-story buildings built later, the old house sandwiched in the middle basically had no light.

"The old house turned into a dangerous building due to a rainstorm," said Displacement Architecture Design.

Therefore, the family discussed and applied for demolition and reconstruction and as a result, Mini South Villa was devised.

This project has been shortlisted in the residential project category of Dezeen Awards China 2024.
