The Little Wild One – Boutique Resort Hotel

Enviro Tec Creatives has repurposed and redesigned an abandoned building into a desert-like hotel, The Little Wild One, in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China.

The Little Wild One came back to life from an existing dilapidated building of the 100 Ordos development, which was envisioned by the world-renowned artist Ai Weiwei.

The name takes references from the 'Wild Living Desert' – the characteristics of fluidity and organic flow of sand dunes – the depth and shadows created by the layers of undulating shapes, and hence these shapes where light falls and luminance shimmers reminiscent of the speckles of sand.

"The integration between architecture and interior where the fluidity flows from one space to another, this organic flow creates an almost spiritual-like journey," said Enviro.

The key features are based on desert life with the feeling of emptiness and expansiveness where spaces are uncluttered, boundary-less and this flow of elements where fluidity features through the design features of wall to ceiling and the adjoining walls in the cornering of curvaceous edges.

This project has been shortlisted in the hotel and short-stay interior category of Dezeen Awards China 2024.
