Village Collective Housing
No.10-Architects has designed the Village Collective Housing for the Wama Township in Baoshan, China.
The Village Collective Housing project was created using local materials and technologies, local craftsmen were hired and guided and the construction of a 22-household collective housing of 440 square metres was completed.
Adhering to the principle of simplicity in design, the relationship between public and private spaces has been arranged within limited land, providing 22 small families with a warm, inviting home.
"The local government hopes to build a residential building that can meet the needs of 22 living rooms to improve and solve the needs of elderly people living alone in the village," said No.10-Architects.
The surplus vacant rooms will be rented out at a low price to families of left-behind children who have to travel long distances to school, where the rental cost will be used for the daily maintenance and expenses of the residence.
This project has been shortlisted in the residential project category of Dezeen Awards China 2024.
